Departed this life April 30th, 1861, at Old Malton, Yorkshire, England, the place of his nativity, Thomas Simpkins, of Griggsville, Pike County, Illinois, aged 54 years, as an esteemed and honored citizen, who justly performed his duty in all the varied relations of life, puntual in business, faithful in friendship, and in the capacity of husband and parent, for the 30 years he has dwelt among us, has carried out the old adage "An honest man's the noblest work of God". Peace to his ashes.
