Obituary published in the Augusta Eagle May 10, 1912.

EATON - U. R. Eaton, one of the oldest residents of Ludington, passed away Friday May 3rd, at the home of his son Leslie Eaton, where he had his home the past winter. The deceased was born in Cayuga County, New York, August 29, 1833 and was therefore nearly 79 years old. He was married early in life in the southern part of the state to Miss Margaret Mansur. To this union were born three children, Mary and George, and a little son who died in infancy.
He came to Ludington with his wife and children and three brothers and took up homesteads. About ten years after coming here his wife died, leaving him with two children. Later he met and married Miss Emma Downer of Lemonweir, this state. To this union were born seven children, two little girls who died in infancy and five sons now living.
He was a believer in the Christian religion and at his death gave the assurance "that it was well with him."
With his passing there has left us one of the most familiar figures of the early pioneer days of Eau Claire county. He was a kind father and good neighbor. True to his friends, and his home was ever open to all. He never turned away a stranger hungry from his door.
He leaves to mourn his loss tow children by his former wife, Mrs. Mary Wilbur of Ludington and George E. Eaton of Dresser Junction, Wis. Also a widow and five sons by his second marriage, Albert M. Eaton of St. Croix Falls, Wis.; Leslie and Edwin Eaton of Ludington; H. S. Eaton of Cheyenne Well, Colorado and Samuel G. Eaton of Eau Claire; besides many grandchildren and friends.
Rev. W. B. Stubbert, pastor of the Baptist church of Augusta, conducted the services and interment was made in the Ludington cemetery. The choir of the Baptist church assisting in the services.
