Reuben was born in rural Pleasantville, Iowa; graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1936; served in the United States Navy during WWII; and united in marriage to Phyllis Stone February 23, 1946 in Stockton, CA. For six years, he was on the Warren County Oil Board of Directors and was a charter member of the Evening Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Alan (Denise) Core and Anthony (Suzanne) Core all of Indianola and Howard (Carolee) Core of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Leah Core of Chandler, AZ, Alyssa Core of Ashland, WI, Chad (Susan) Core of Ankeny, and Aaron (Amanda) Core of Indianola; three great-grandchildren, Seth Core of Ankeny, Aiden Core of Indianola and Tiffany LeMaster of Des Moines; brothers, Maurice (Carole) Core of Columbus, OH, and Lyle Core of Indianola; sisters, Elizabeth Kelso of Des Moines, Jessie Heaberlin of Pleasantville and Dorothy Templeton of Knoxville.
