Services for Jacob Bird, 84, who passed away in Benton Tuesday, will be conducted from Schroeder Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Dr. I.E. Lee, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin, will officiate. Burial will be in Holts Prairie Cemetery.

Bird, a retired farmer, has been in ill health for five months prior to his death at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Roy Moss, Tuesday.

A life long resident of Du Quoin, he was a son of the late George and Margaret Bird. His wife, the former Alta Elizabeth Harvey, to whom he was wed in Pinckneyville, preceded him in death on March 17, 1940.

The deceased was a member of Holts Prairie Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Bessie) Moss of Benton and Miss Bertha Bird of Du Quoin; a son Frank Bird of Evansville, IN.; three sisters, Mrs. Elzora Bailey, Thebes and Mesdames Elsina Tucker and Rosie Hill, boyj of Pinckneyville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
ones daughter, Della Bird Owens, passed away December 16, 1941.

Jacob is the son of George Washington and Margaret (Lipe) Bird. He married Alta Elizabeth Harvey on October 23, 1888, in Pinckneyville, IL. Their children: Della B. (Omer), Edward, Jonas, Bessie F. (Moss), Bertha (Riead) and Marion Frank Bird.
