In Alfred, N. Y., Dec. 19th, 1873, of dropsy, Mrs. Clarissa Saunders, wife of Ezekiel R. Saunders, in the 71st year of her age. Mrs. Saunders had for a long time been infirm, but her death, although not altogether unlooked for, came suddenly, she being able to sit with the family at the tea table the evening previous to her death. She was a person of a decidedly religious character, and was really a "mother in Israel." Her loss will be greatly felt not only in her family, where she was indeed a wife and mother, but in the neighborhood, where she lived. She was a faithful member of the First Seventh-day Baptist Church of Alfred, and as such was greatly beloved, but now has ceased from her labors, and her "works will follow her."
