US Congressman. He studied medicine and was engaged in the practice of medicine in Danville, Pennsylvania. During the War of 1812, he served as a surgeon with the Second Regiment of the Pennsylvania Riflemen. He served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and was elected to Congress as a Democrat from Pennsylvania, serving from 1837 to 1841.
