Pierz - Funeral services for Mr. Leo Merkling, 82, Pierz, died Sunday, Sept. 12 at St. Gabriel's Hospital.

Services will be at St. Joseph's Church in Pierz at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with Alfred Heltemes officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Pierz, where visitation is at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Prayer services are at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers are Rollie Block, Al, Art and Pat Preimesberger, Donald Grittner, and Danny Grittner.

Leo Merkling was born May 29, 1900 in St. Michael, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Merkling. He worked as a farmer in Pierz for many years. He has been a resident of St. Otto's Home for the past five years.

Survivors include: one brother; Dan Merkling, Burlington, Wash.; and four sisters; Mrs. Henry (Tillie) Preimesberger, Pierz; Mrs. Herman (Angeline) Block, Pierz; Mrs. Harry (Freda) Krueger, Pierz; Mrs. Louise Gelhar, Westbend, Wisc.
