A Clairemont man and his wife were discovered fatally shot in their
home yesterday, and police said the deaths appeared to be homicide
and suicide. In an upstairs bedroom in a house in the 3600 block of Old Cobble Road, police found Charlotte Annis, 69, dead with several wounds from 38-caliber bullets in her back, said a coroner's spokesman. On the floor nearby was her husband, Lurton, 65, dead of one gunshot wound to the chest, the spokesman said.
Police were called to the house at 1:20 p.m. after neighbors said they had not seen the couple in a few days, said a police spokesman.
Neighbors reported that the Annises were apparently in ill health and had lived in San Diego for a short time after moving from Texas, police said.
