Albert Knikpper, 78, Overland Park, KS, died Saturday, September 12, 1998.
He was born near Axtell, KS on September 20, 1919, the son of Albert H. and Mary L. Hasenkamp Knipper.
He graduated from Bishop Ward High School, where in addition to his studies he excelled in football. Later, he attended Rockhurst College and completed all available accounting classes. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1966, finishing as a Chief Warrent Officer stationed in Europe.
He was married to Agnes Weber on May 8, 1948. The celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. She survives.
Al was employed as a Postal Supervisior for over 34 years and retired in 1978 as superintendent of Motor Vehicles. After retirement he volunteered for various organizations.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Sunshine Club. He was an avid woodcarver.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes; daughters, Mary Chravrini, Overland Park, KS; Joan Carter, Lenexa, KS; sisters, Rose Ann Lierz; Alma Kraft; Jane Nelson; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Barbara E. Intfen.
Funeral services were September 17, 1998, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Overland Park, KS. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
