VaLoy Jensen Coates, 89, of Beaver, Utah, passed away August 8, 2008, in Beaver. She was born October 6, 1918, in Murray, Utah, to Peter James and Mary Catherine Luke Jensen. She married Leo Coates September 23, 1935 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on March 31, 1942. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1991.

VaLoy enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting. She loved to read, go camping and pick pine nuts. Her family was the joy of her life. VaLoy was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings.

She is survived by her children, Kent L. (Karen) Coates, Circleville; Randall J. (Evelyn) Coates, Murray; Tanya (Danny) White, Beaver; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one expected November 2008; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Quinn, Richfield; and LaRue
(Wayne) Wolf, Boise, ID; sister-in-law, Alta Jensen, Ogden; and brother-in-law, LaRell Baker, Richfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; daughter, Catherine (Ralph) Staples; brothers, Max Jensen; Romain (Thurma) Jensen; and Waldo Jensen; sister, Colleen Baker.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at 12:00 noon in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 S. 100 W. Richfield. Burial in the Kingston Cemetery.
