Annie N. AbernathyAnnie Nell Abernathy, age 73, of Florence, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2006.Visitation was 12:30-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 at Hydes Chapel Church of Christ, Cypress Inn, Tenn. The service followed at 3 p.m. in the church, with Brother Nolan Burns and Brother Perry Taylor officiating. Burial followed at Cloverdale Church of Christ.Pallbearers will be Randy Marks, Ronnie Marks, Tony Wallace, Jacky West and William Coffman.Mrs. Abernathy was a lifelong member of Hydes Chapel Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and best friend to all she knew. Her favorite pastimes were her two special grandsons and talking on the phone.Preceding her in death was her husband, Willie Earl Abernathy; parents, Owen W. and Lillie Wallace; brother, Gifford Wallace.Survivors include son, James Earl Abernathy and wife, Gena, of Florence; brother, Grafford Wallace and wife, Virginia, of Cloverdale; grandsons, Nocona Colt and Elam Teal Abernathy; nieces and nephews.Special thanks to Dr. Mann, Jo Pannell and the nursing staff of sixth floor ECM.Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, directed.Kathleen CasteelKathleen Casteel, age 84, of Huntsville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006.Visitation will be 12:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb, 6, at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, with Brother Christ Underwood officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.Mrs. Casteel served as church secretary at Highland Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was the widow of the late Hubert O. Casteel.She is survived by a daughter, Judy Rogers and husband, Richard, of Huntsville, Ala.; sister, Frankie Ash, of Florence, Ala.; special aunt, Lorene H. Hilf, of San Jose, Calif.; two grandchildren, Chip Rogers, of Tuscaloosa, and Amy Smith and husband, Aaron, of Huntsville; one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Emmaline Smith, of Huntsville.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of Highland Baptist, or missions fund.Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, is directing.Published in Florence Times Daily on February 6, 2006
