Mrs. Backus was born April 30, 1899 in Waitsfield, Vermont to James M. and Bertha E. (nee Dana) Backus. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Everett Backus, her first husband Stanley E. Bailey, her second husband Frederick A. Strong, a third husband Dannie Moore Sr., and fourth husband Guy O. Backus.
Mrs. Backus is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Freda) Millspaugh of Montour Falls, Mrs. Mona Vibbert of Fairport, Mrs. Stella Carley of Baldwinsville, Mrs. June Switzer of Fayetteville; three sons, Dannie Moore of Chittenango, William Bailey of Vermont, David Backus of Elmira; a sister Mrs. Emily Mazanec of Fitchburg, Mass.; 34 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the Heal Funeral Home in Odessa. Private services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. David Rees officiating. Burial will be in West Genoa Cemetery at King Ferry.
