"Mrs. Perry Thompson Dies

"Mrs. Perry Thompson, 79, pioneer of Love county and resident of Marietta for many years, died at the family home Monday afternoon, following an illness of several days, brought on by a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Thompson came to this country in an early day and has lived here ever since. She was one of the best women in the county and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a devout Christian and consistent member of the Methodist church. Her many acts of kindness and motherly advice to loved ones, friends, neighbors and even strangers will long be remembered. She was a "Gold Star mother," having a son killed in action during the World war. She is survived by one son, Ed Thomas, by her first marriage, and four daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Hill, Mrs. Alsie Lacy, Mrs. Annie Darling and Mrs. Mae Kaler, by a second marriage. Her late husband, Capt. Perry Thompson, was for many years a leading farmer and prominent cattleman of this section.

"Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. W. J. Stewart, assisted by Rev. R. E. Shaffer of Thackerville, Rev. Wayne M. Largent of the Church of Christ and Rev. W. G. Winans of the Baptist church. Interment in Lake View cemetery.

"Relatives and friends from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Frendsley, Mrs. Lovie Doak, Mrs. Elder Davis, Duncan; Mrs. M. C. Houston, Mrs. Clyde Fitzhugh, Mrs. Jim Doak, Mrs. Ida Marder, Mrs. J. M. Fitzhugh, Dallas, Texas; Ed Thomas, Roff; Mrs. Alsie Lacy, Tyler, Texas."
