~Obit~Funeral services for Marshall J. Walton of Independence will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 at the First Methodist church. The pastor, the Rev. Wayne Carlson, will officiate and burial will be in the Troy Mills cemetery. Mr. Walton, a retired carpenter and contractor, suffered a fatal heart attack Saturday morning, April 6 as he was approaching highway 20 from the Doris road, four miles east of Independence. He was able to drive the car to the side of the road and was dead when the fire department rescue squad arrived. He was born January 1, 1886 in Linn county, the son of Leonard Austin Walton and Mary Amanda Ramsey. He married Grace Ethel Lowery on June 28, 1906 at Quasqueton. He was a member of the First Methodist church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Harlan of Troy Mills and Milton of Miami, Florida; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Hilmer, Independence; Mrs. Luke Robison of Walker; Mrs. Herb (Erma) Deke, Miami, Florida; Mrs. Willard (Ruby) Huyck, Newhall, 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one brother, J. Burl Walton of Troy Mills. The White Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements. Pallberers will be Emery Hart, Charles Fuller, Frank Speers, Arthur Lappe, Henry Nielson and William Horn, Sr.
