He was born near McFall's Church, Ashland County, September 16, 1851, when that part of the country was a wilderness. A few years later the parents came to Richland County and with the exceptions of a few years spent in Iowa the deceased has always resided in this county. In 1874 he was married to Miss Maria Elizabeth Swendal, who with three sons and two daughters survive. They are: Harry Alden Farst of Mt. Vernon; Norman Arthur Farst of Butler and Ralph Earl Farst who resides on a farm east of town; Mrs. Albert (Corella) Yarger of Knox County and Miss Hazel Estella Farst who resides at home.
Isaiah was a member of Clearfork Grange, No. 255, P. of H, and was also affiliated with the Salem Evangelical Church since 1876.
Among those who attended his funeral were: Capt. Joseph Peter "J.P." Rummel, Mr. and Mrs. George Pritchard, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Painter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Swendal and two daughters Verda and Sylvia of Mansfield, Luther R. Farst and family of Lexington, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Shipley and John E. Rummel of Fredericktown and Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Farst of Mt. Vernon.
