Despite what her gravestone says, most documents indicate Hannah was born in 1842 rather than 1843. Her parents were Henry S. Frazee and Sarah VanPatten Frazee.

In 1864, in Sangamon County, Illinois Hannah married Richard Graham Large who was enlisted in the Union Army. About 3 months earlier Hannah's sister, Cornelia, married Richard's brother, Lewis.

In 1865 Richard was honorably discharged and in 1866 Hannah and Richard moved to Wilson County, Kansas. Richard was a farmer. They had five children Henry Grant Large (1866-1887), Edward F Large, Rosa Belle Large (died in infancy in 1873), George W Large (died in infancy 1875), and Fred (1877-1971). Only Fred outlived his parents.

In 1892 Hannah, Richard and Fred moved to Dayton, Washington. They were probably drawn to that area because Hannah's Uncle John Coop VanPatten and Aunt Caroline VanPatten Lyman had moved with their families from Illinois to Dayton a decade earlier.
