Donald Timm
1924-2002
WANATAH - Mr. Donald W. Timm, 78, of Wanatah, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2002, at 11:40 a.m. at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso.
He was born to John and Gladys (Tuesburg) Timm on Jan. 22, 1924, in Ober, Ind., Starke County. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty (Bud) Leffert, and one brother, Floyd (Rose) Timm.
On June 28, 1947, in Valparaiso, he married Florence Koselke, who survives, along with their three children, Edward (Pat) Timm of Fishers, Ind., Ellen (Don) Kutkiewicz of Wanatah, and Norman (Christina) Timm of Walterboro, S.C.; one granddaughter; eight grandsons; one great-grandson; and one sister, Lois (Dave) Marquardt of Wanatah.
A veteran of World War II, Donald was in the Rhineland Campaign with several decorations including the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, having been wounded in action Dec. 28, 1944, in Belgium and March 18, 1945, in Germany. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and American Legion Post 403 in Wanatah. He had owned and operated a milk route from 1948 to 1955, then farmed from 1955 to 1990, and also drove a school bus for South Central School Corporation for a number of years, semi-retiring in 1990.
A funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah with Rev. Jerry Schweitzer officiating, with burial at St. Paul Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Wanatah Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart for masses or to St. Vincent DePaul Charity (for the needy families in our own community) or to the charity of the donor's choice.
