Son of Thomas King and Catherine Kernon, husband of Alice E. Gordon, the daughter of John Harris Gordon and Theresa Angelica Newton, whom he married on September 27, 1891, in Sayville, New York, and father of Elbert Gordon and Theresa I. King.

Obituary - J. ELMER KING, 84, of 49 Avery Avenue, Patchogue, died early last Thursday morning at his home after an extended illness. Born in Patchogue, he had been a resident of this village all his life. Mr. King, a retired contractor, was a charter member and past president, for 27 years, of the Patchogue local carpenters' union. He was an exempt member of the Union Hook and Ladder company of the Patchogue Fire department, a member of the Patchogue Exempt Firemen's association and of the Junior Order of American Mechanics. He and his wife celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary last September. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice I. King, of Patchogue; a son, Elbert G. King of Patchogue; a sister, Miss Anna E. King of Bayport; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Robertaccio Funeral home with the Rev. Carl G. Gernannt of Emanuel Lutheran church officiating, and interment followed in Lakeview cemetery.
