The funeral services of W.H. Austin of Versailles, were held at the Eldon Methodist Church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the pastor, the Rev. Raymond J. Gilbreath, who was assisted by the Rev. Prater of the Versailles Methodist Church. A special song number was given by W.R. Enloe and Floyd Loving.

William H. Austin was born Sept 1, 1860 in Browning Vermont. Five years later he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Austin, to Missouri and located in Miller County between Eldon and Mount Pleasant.

March 19, 1884, Mr. Austin was married to Miss Edith Nina Eaton. To them ten children were born, five of whom are now living, Mrs. J.E. Cole of Colton, Calif., Roy W. Austin of Princeton, Ind., Mrs. W.F. Costello of Kansas City, Mrs. N.J. Williams of St. Louis, and Mrs. Roy Robinson of Versailles. Mr. and Mrs. Austin had been making their home with Mr. and Mrs. Robinson since during late summer when they moved there from Eldon.

Last March 19 Mr. and Mrs. Austin celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home in Eldon with all the living members of the family present. Many friends greeted them with flowers and presents and the Eldon Band gave them a serenade.

Mr. Austin was a man who believed in living his Christianity. He was a faithful member of the Methodist Church and served regularly on the Church Board for years. Being so regular in attendance at church services and Sunday school his presence was missed if he was not there. He was also a member of the Eldon Lodge I.O.O.F. No. 462. In his home life he was devoted to his family and always glad when he could have any of his many relatives and friends in his home. For four years he held the office of Collector of Miller County to which he was elected by a large majority and during his term made a record for close collection of revenues and efficiency in office.

Besides Mrs. Austin and the five children, Mr. Austin is survived by one brother, H. H. Austin of Kansas City, a sister, Mrs. John Pell of Los Angeles, Calif., ten grandchildren, Vern Decker, Pittsburg, Kan., Edith Marguerite Decker, Eldon, Willard Cole, Colton, Calif., Junior Cole, Colton, Calif, Howard Austin, Princeton, Ind., Robert Gene Robinson, Jack Robinson and Patricia Robinson, Versailles, Martha Ann and Billy Williams of St. Louis and one great-grandchild, LaVerne Decker of Pittsburg, Kan.
