John Spargo, son of John Cornish Spargo and Mary Rowse (Rouse), immigrated to the United States from Birmingham, England, in 1879 with his wife Fannie and 11 month old daughter, Frances Mary. John was a master copper wire drawer. He was employed by the Rome Iron Works, Rome where he was in charge of the wire bench in the brass mill. John's obituary said he, "was a steady, industrious man and a good citizen. Those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, esteemed him highly".
John died of "quick consumption" at the age of 26.
