Well-Known Woman of the County Passes Away at Advanced Age of 65 Years.
Mrs. Eliza Alexander Reid, the wife of Mr. Hugh K. Reid of Sharon township, died at an early hour yesterday morning after an illness of more than a year, during the larger part of which time she was a graceful sufferer. The funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Sharon church, Rev. Dr. G. R. White, pastor of the Ebenezer A. R. P. church having charge of the exercises. Rev. A. J. Crane of Newell will assist him.
The deceased is survived by her husband and the following-named children: Mr. J. W. Reid, chief clerk to superintendent of education, Austin, Texas, H. C. Reid of New Mexico, Rev. F. L. Reid of Lee's Summit, Mo., Dr. T. N. Reid of Matthews, Prof. W. Banks Reid of Marshville and Mrs. W. A. Alexander and Miss Mary Reid of Sharon. She was 65 years of age.
Mrs. Reid before her marriage was Miss Eliza Alexander, a daughter of the late T. N. Alexander and a member of one of the county's most prominent and substantial families. She was a woman of remarkably strong character, a magnetic personality and a soul that was radiant with good qualities. She has long been known for her genuine piety and Christian fortitude, maintaining even during the intense suffering of her affliction unbounded faith and confidence.
