U.S. Congressman. During the Revolutionary War, he served as a subaltern officer in the Associaters and was in command of a battalion of militia. After the war, he was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, in 1790, justice of the peace of Dauphin County, in 1790, associate judge of Lebanon County, 1791 and served in the Pennsylvania State Senate, (1790-92). On March 4, 1813, he was elected as a Federalist to the Thirteenth Congress, serving until he resigned on August 2, 1813. He was then again appointed associate judge of Lebanon County, serving until his death at age 77.
