He was an Ashland resident all his life.
He was employed by the Ashland County Highway Department, retiring Aug. 1, 1994. He also worked parttime for Turk Brothers Meats in Ashland for more than 30 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean conflict.
On Jan. 16, 1952, he married Joyce Cecil, who survives. He also is survived by three children, Steve ( Kathy) Ambrose of Fort Worth, Texas, Dan Ambrose of Grapevine, Texas, and Latonda (Mike) Klaameyer of Charleston, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leland (Elaine) Ambrose of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marge Wenwick; and three brothers, Dick, Daniel and Harold.
