Harold D. Ambrose, 67, of rural Ashland died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Good Shepherd Home.

Born Dec. 6, 1935, in Ashland, he was the son of George and Rhea Hoover Ambrose.

He had been a resident of Ashland County all his life, retiring from the Mowry Construction Co. as a carpenter. He had served in the U.S. Army.

He was married Sept. 29, 1981, to Kathy Hanson, who survives. Also surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Kenneth Sprang of Lucas, Brenda and Bob Bowles of Millersburg, Karen and Mark Hostutler and Fern and Bill Yeley, all of Ashland, and Traci and Mark Merchant of Perrysville; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Michelle Ambrose of Ontario; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leland and Elaine Ambrose and Kenneth and Joyce Ambrose, all of Ashland; and one sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Ralph Wenrick of Warner Robin, Ga.

He was preceded by two brothers, Dick and Danny Ambrose; and one grandchild.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, at Heyl Funeral Home with pastor Arden Gilmer officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.

Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland 44805.
