Obituary: James Harvey "Jim" Gober, Jr.

He was born May 9, 1925 in Burnsville, Tishomingo County, Mississippi, the son of James Harvey "Harve" Gober Sr. and Mary Emmaline "Amy" Floyd Gober.

He married Wilda Thelma George on March 3, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW where he was a member of the Honor Guard.

He is survived by wife Gladys "Sam" Lucero Gober whom he married on July 2, 1987 in Elko, Nevada; and, four children: Dana Lynn Gober Bankhead, James Woodrow "Woody" Gober, Kim Mary Gober Sloan, and Tim Rex Gober.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Wilda Thelma George who died in 1985 and his daughter Danette Gober Brace (1953-1974), both of whom are interred at Valley View Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral services were held May 26, 1995 at 1:00 pm arranged by Peel Funeral Home, Magna, Utah and conducted by Rev. Alex Lucero, nephew of surviving wife Gladys Lucero Gober.

Committal service: Valley View Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites; VFW Honor Guard.

Pallbearers: Frank Bankhead, Chris Foenelius, Shawn Gober, Dan Bankhead, David Bankhead, Robert Martinez. Honorary pallbearer: Sgt. Charles M. Cordova, II (stepson, McCord Air Force Base, Tacoma, Washington)
