Son of William Frederick Champlin and Amelia Gudovich, husband of Helen T. O'Connell and father of William Frederick III (married Doris E. Carl), Eugene J., Eva Helen (married Hilton Spencer), Charles H., Robert E., Mary Ellen (married James L. Hudson), Bertha A., and Muriel E. Champlin.

Obituary - William F. Champlin, aged 43, died Sunday morning at his home, 487 South Ocean Avenue, Patchogue, after a lingering illness.

Born at Montauk, Mr. Champlin was a World War Veteran, having served as a private in Company E, 307th Ammunition train. He was a member of the Patchogue post, A.L., and had lived in Patchogue for 15 years.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Helen O'Connell Champlin; eight children, William F., Eugene J., Eva Helen, Charles H., Robert E., Mary E., Bertha A., and Muriel E. Champlin; a brother, Frank Champlin of Brookhaven, and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Howland of Patchogue, and Mrs. Mae Henriques of Valley Stream.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today from the Champlin home, the Rev. Carl G. Gernannt, pastor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Patchogue, officiating. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Patchogue. American Legion services were also held at the home and a Legion firing squad gave a salute at the cemetery.
