Mary C. Cheffy, 98, of Springfield, died at 11:50 p.m., Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Villa HealthCare East in Sherman. She was born August 6, 1912 in Barnhill, IL to Charles Edward and Grace Ethel Buchanan Baker. She married Ralph Cheffy on December 28, 1928. He preceded her in death 1959. Her parents; 2 sons Robert and Thomas; a grandson Duane E. Cheffy; 1 brother and 3 sisters also preceded her in death.

She is survived by 3 sons Bill and Ed (Eleanor) Cheffy both of Springfield and Jim Cheffy of Sherman; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great and 3 great great great grandchildren; 3 sisters Alice Crowe of Grass Valley, CA, Helen Horn of New Berlin and Opal Tuxhorn of Pawnee; 3 brothers Russell (Mary) Baker, Floyd (Delores) Baker and Paul (Marie) Baker all of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was an Aid at Memorial Medical Center on the Orthopedic Floor for 27 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Memorial Medical Center Retirement group and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Funeral services at Staab Funeral Home, Robert Green officiating. Burial in Old Berlin Cemetery.
