Raymond "Ray" B. Adamson
RAYMOND "RAY" ADAMSON
Raymond Burton Adamson son of Burton and Margaret (Morgan) Adamson was born March 14, 1938 in Woodson County, Kansas and passed away August 9, 2008 at the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 70.
He was raised in the community of Big Sandy located in Woodson County, Kansas. He attended the rural country schools of Liberal Hill and Big Sandy. He graduated from Toronto High School, Toronto, Kansas. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. After graduating from high school, he was employed by Southwest Bell Telephone.
Ray came to Missouri to work as a heavy equipment operator, doing dirt construction on the roads throughout Missouri. He met Mary Lee Luna and they were married November 9, 1968. The couple has been blessed with two sons, Shannon and Jeffery.
Ray and Mary leased a farm in Ozark County to raise cattle and perform custom brush hog work. Later he established his own trucking business, Adamson Trucking, then later a second business, Adamson Recycling.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Lee; two sons Shannon and wife Amanda of Castle Rock, Colorado, Jeffery and wife Alicia of Springfield, Missouri; two grandsons Ayden and Alec Adamson of Castle Rock, Colorado; granddaughter Ashley Adamson of Springfield, Missouri; one sister Vera Cunningham and husband Ronald of Toronto, Kansas; one brother Leon Adamson and wife Bobbie of Noel, Missouri; as well as several nieces and nephews and their children.
He was preceded in death by his father Burton, his mother Margaret, and his brother Harold.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 12, 2008, 10:00 AM in the Gainesville Cemetery with Dale Roberts and Vurl Norton officiating. Visitation will be Monday, August 11, 2008, 5:00 til 7:00 PM at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, MO. Contributions can be made to Gainesville Cemetery or Brushy Knob Church and can be dropped off at the funeral home
