A funeral service for Marylou Slack, 75, a Minden resident for the past seven years, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.

Mrs. Slack died April 5, 2004 in Minden. She was born May 4, 1928 in Portland, Oregon, to Guy E. McCracken and Rhoda Jane Rosel.

She married Paul Lavern Slack after World War II. Prior to living in Minden, she lived in Los Angeles, where she retired from Pacific Bell Yellow Pages after 27 years.

Mrs. Slack worked as a deputy sheriff with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department from 1970 until her retirement in 1992. She adopted her great-grandson, Kenneth Loren, after the death of her granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley McCracken, Goldie Milliken and Gladys Allen; brother, Glenn McCracken; and granddaughter, Christianne Lynn Slack Toepp.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Loyle and Suzan Slack, of Reno; son, Kenneth Loren Slack, of Minden; and sister, Arlene Rupp of Newton, Connecticut.

Private burial will be in Genoa Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is in charge of arrangements.
