Services for Lena Mae Peters Scott Sooter, 80, of Lubbock will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Savage officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

She went into the hands of our Lord on August 6, 2008.

Lena Mae was born January 1, 1928 in Mannie, La., to W.H. and Emma Mae Peters. She was married to Charlie W. Scott, Jr. of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody Sooter; her ex-husband, Charlie Scott; and her eldest son, Gerald Scott.

She was a member of Trinity Church and was active in her Sunday School Class and actively sang at the Senior Citizens Center. Lena loved her God and family. She was an active volunteer at Highland Medical Center.

She is survived by her sons, John and Steve Scott; a daughter-in-law, Karen Scott; granddaughter, Melissa Scott; brother, Van Peters of Beaumont; and sister, Bernice Langdon of Michigan.


She was born in Zwolle, La. to William Hinker Peters and Amanda (Mandy) Williams Peters. Both of her parents are buried in Beulah Cemetery, Negreet, La.
Lena Mae was married to Charles Lloyd Scott, Jr. and Woodroe Sooter.
