Edward E. "Gene" Harper, 70, Frankfort, died unexpectedly at 4 p.m. February 25, 2002, in the emergency room of St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.

Mr. Harper was a long-time Clinton County resident. He was a driver for Frazier's Dairy and bartender at the Eagles Lodge, where he was a member.

Mr. Harper was born March 3, 1932, in Summer Shade, Kentucky and was raised by his aunt, Clarice Shaffield, Rossville. He married Betty Irene Chambers, who died November 19, 1981.

Surviving are his long-time companion, Sally Bolen of Frankfort; three sons, Rick of Frankfort, John and Brian of Florida; a daughter, Pam of Frankfort, a brother, Cliff of Frankfort; a sister, Emma Baskett of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, including Jason Harper, whom he raised in his home; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with an Eagles memorial service at 7:30.

Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
