Maxine was the daughter of James Monroe and Bertha (Ecklund) Carnahan. Bertha died as the result of a ruptured appendix in June of 1923. Bertha's last request was that Jim allow John C. and Ida Wingard to adopt her tiny daughter, Maxine. When John Wingard died in 1931 and Ida in 1933, Maxine returned to live with her father. She was raised in Brockway and graduated from Brockway High School. On 17 April 1941 in Corry PA Maxine married James Raymond Kolstee a son of James William (Homer) and Marian Lucretia (Raymond) Kolstee. Maxine's husband James Raymond Kolstee predeceased her. He died at their farm on Plank Road, Corry PA 15 October 1983.
