Mr. Samuel Rhodes, age 60, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away August 6, 2008. He was born January 18, 1948 in Walton County, Florida to James and Edith Evans Rhodes.
Mr. Rhodes had been a lifelong resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith and he was affiliated with Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era, serving his country in the United States Army, having been awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in action. He was also awarded a lifetime membership in the 1st 501 Infantry for his loyal faithful and meritorious service to his Country. He was also a member of the JayCee's, having been named JayCee of the year. He enjoyed fishing with his wife and grandson.

Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathy Rhodes; two sisters Joyce Rhodes and Pauline Kahrs; two brothers James and David Rhodes.

Mr. Rhodes is survived by his daughter June Peacock and husband Michael of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; one grandson Aaron Peacock, two brothers Gerald Rhodes of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Joseph Rhodes of Auburndale, Florida; six sisters Janet Slay of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Janie Alexander of Topeka, Kansas, JoAnn Leudens and husband Richard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Edith Hall of Waggaman, Louisiana and Frances Evans, husband Freddy of Waggaman, Louisiana, and Patricia Peters and husband Don of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, one sister-in-law Marie Rhodes of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and he is also survived by his dog "Scooby" and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A time of visitation will be held 6:00~8:00 PM, Friday, August 8, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with Reverends Owen Smith and Phil McMillian officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Rocky Gainey, Jerry Darby, Carlos Peacock, Daran Donaldson, Aaron Peacock and Shawn Crawford. Honorary pallbearer will be Eric Henderson. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with military honors. Floral arrangements are being accepted.
