Barbara Hope (Frazier), 60, of McCordsville, died Monday, May 2, [2005] at Wildwood Health Care Center, Indianapolis, following an extended illness. She was born March 2, 1945, in Knightstown, daughter of the late Wilbur and Lois (Archey) Frazier.

Mrs. Hope retired from Delphi Delco-Remy Corp. of Anderson in 2002 after 27 years of service. During that time, she was transferred to El Paso, Texas while working for the Delphi Corp. in Cd. Juarez, Mexico. She had also been employed at Delta Tau Delta as a receptionist since 2004. She was a member of the Knightstown Christian Church and past president of the Mental Health Association of Anderson. Mrs. Hope was the first female African-American Deputy Sheriff in Madison County. She was an avid Indiana Pacer fan and Indy Car racing enthusiast and loved spending time with her grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include a son, Kyle (wife, Yadira) Hope of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Bailey, Kelsy, and Bryan Hope, all of Indianapolis; a sister, Wanda Smith of Indianapolis; two nieces, Lisa (husband, William) Thomas and Natalie Shaw, both of Indianapolis; three great-nieces, Andrea and Shayla Thomas and Chanteil Bradley, all of Indianapolis; two great-nephews, Billy and Marcus Thomas of Indianapolis; one great-great nephew, Tejauhn Thomas; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, May 7, 10:30 a.m., at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Seminarian Chris Wadelton officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 6 at the funeral home.
