On June 8, 1900, Raymond was recorded in the Center Township, City of Indianapolis census. His parents had been married for four years. The record shows he was the only child born to Marrie Ketter, who was native of Pennsylvania, but had German parents. Raymond's father, Jacob, was born in Germany in January 1863 and had immigrated to America in 1867.

The census record shows Raymond was born in December 1893 and shows his age as 6. However, one can tell that the record originally showed him as age 3 and was changed to 6. The error was actually in the year rather than his age.

He enlisted in the US Army on May 12, 1915.

In April 1930, he, his wife, Beatrice, and two sons, Billy and Jack, were living in Washington Township, Marion County, Indiana. He was a civil engineer for the highway commission and Beatrice was a sales lady.

He completed his WWII draft registration in Danville on April 27, 1942. His name was recorded as Raymond Valentine Ketter. He was 5'9" and weighed 168 pounds. His eyes were brown and his hair was gray. His date of birth was listed as December 26, 1896 and place of birth as Marion County, Indiana. His address was RFD 3 Box 179, Danville. The person listed who would always know his address was Mrs. Beatrice Ketter (his wife). His place of employment was Engineering Metal Products Company, 401 South Harding Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.

He and Beatrice had three children, sons, who all died in the 1940s. The youngest, Harry Edward, died first in July 1942 about age 9 in a drowning accident near home. The oldest, Billy Ray, died next in July 1944 in France serving in the US Army. The middle son, Jack Allen, died in March 1945 on Iwo Jima serving in the US Marines.

His obituary from the February 27, 1976 Republican:

Raymond Ketter, age 78, well-known local resident, died Sunday in the Golden Rule Nursing Home near Danville. He had been a patient there for several months where his widow, Beatrice Parsons Ketter, remains a patient. A veteran of World War I, he was a retired engineer. He and his wife had owned and operated a ceramics business on the Old North Salem Road, Danville, for many years prior to retirement. They were the parents of three sons, all preceding him. Harry Edward Ketter was the victim of a drowning accident in July of 1942; Billy Ray Ketter was killed in action in July of 1944; and Jack Allen Ketter was also killed in service in March of 1945. Final rites were Tuesday afternoon from the Baker Funeral Home, Danville. The Rev H. Orval Moore of the Danville Untied Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Danville South Cemetery. The widow is the only immediate survivor.
