Mrs Elizabeth (Troxell) Root, oldest resident of Antis Township, died at the home of son, Lemuel, on 9 Sep 1896. She was 92. Born in Antis Township, widow of Jacob Root, who died 11 years ago. She leaves two daughters: Mrs Henry Elway, and Mrs Mary Igou; and son Lemuel with whom she lived. Two sisters also survive: Mrs Mary Gates and Mrs Hannah Youngkin, with a brother, Perry Troxell. She was a member of the United Brethern Church. Funeral services will be conducted at the late home by pastor Reverend Allen Rhen. (Altoona Mirror, 11 Sep 1896)
