Leslie Stearns married Mary Ellen Bartrow, born in Woodburn, Oregon, where she attended school and, later travelled extensively throughout the Northwest before her marriage. By her first marriage she had one daughter, Ella (Mrs. Charles Rozzano), a resident of Sacramento, California. Her marriage to Mr. Stearns occurred at Woodburn, Oregon, in 1899. She died in Klamath Falls on August 25, 1938, ending the career of a woman most favorably thought of. Her father, Moses Bartrow, of Canadian descent, a farmer by occupation, first came to Klamath Falls in 1899 and resided here four years. Later in life Mr. Bartrow moved to the western part of the State where he died at Woodburn in 1914. His wife, Felicitate McKay, was a native of Woodburn, daughter of John McKay of Scotch descent. He crossed the plains by covered wagon to become one of that town's earliest settlers, and was noted throughout his life for his great friendliness to the Indians. Leslie and Mary Stearns reared three children Everett Abron, now a resident of Klamath Falls; Oren, who died in infancy, and Orson.
