Burfordville--Sylvanis Odney Hutson, a lifelong resident of Cape County, died Friday at his home on Highway 34 near Burfordville. He was 87 years old.
A farmer and stockman all his life, he was born Nov. 16, 1877, near Millersville. He married Iva Craig July 25, 1909, and she died in 1959.
He was a member of the West View Lodge 103 at Millersville and received his 50-year pin in 1960. He was also a member of the Millersville Baptist Church.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Glenn Starzinger and Mrs. Earl Clifton, Jackson, Mrs. Luther Smith, Oak Ridge, Miss Ruth Hutson, Jackson Route 2, and Mrs. Raymond Cook, Burfordville; two sons, Pink Hutson, Jackson Route 2, and Robert Hutson, Jackson; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 at Cracraaft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Fred Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Masonic services will be held at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home by the West View Lodge.
