John Smeltzer was a son of Valentine Schmeltzer and Appalona UNKNOWN Schmeltzer.


John Smeltzer married Mary Elizabeth Smelser in 1802.

John Smeltser's Will

I John Smeltser of the County of Miami in the State of Ohio do Make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and Form following that is to say first it is my will that my funeral Expenses and all my Just Debts be fully paid _ _ _ _ _

Secondly, I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Smeltser all my Real and personal property and all my money and Debts owing to me to have and to hold the same During her natural life time thirdly I give and Devise to my four Children Andrew Smeltser, Reuben Smeltser, Margaret Harter and Mary Clyne all the Decease of my said wife to be equally Divided Between my four Children as aforesaid and it is my will that My Wife Shall give my youngest son Reuben Smeltser six months Schooling out of the property left to her _ _ _ _ and lastly I hereby Constitute and appoint my Said wife Mary Smeltser and my said son Andrew Smeltser to be the Executors of this my last will and testament Revoking and annulling all former wills by me made and Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament --- In testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 13th Day of January 1838

"York County, Pennsylvania, Orphans Court Dockets:[F, p. 257, 29 Apr 1790]

"Came into Court, Adam Smeltzar and John Smeltzar, both aged seventeen years and Upwards and prayed to be permitted to choose a Guardian for themselves and being asked by the Court named Dewalt Snider Whereupon the Court appoint the said Dewalt Snider to be the Guardian of the persons & Estates of said Minors" [Children of Valentine Smeltzar deceased].""
