Although she had attended school only two week of her life, she learned to read and write both the English and German languages and served as an efficient Sunday-school teacher for a great many years. She was one of the pioneers i n the sewing circle work at the East Bend Church, and was a faithful wife and loving mother, who considered no sacrifice too great for her family or a friend in need. Funeral services were held Jan. 15 at the East Bend Church, with Harold Zehr giving the message assisted by J. A. Heiser. Interment was made in the East Bend Cemetery.
