Amos Lucas, 83, Succumbs Sunday
Burial This Afternoon at Two
Amos Lucas, 83, retired farmer of Jackson Township died Sunday afternoon at 6:30 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. James Ayres, 54 Blinn Avenue, after an illness of more than two years with a complication of ailments. He had been in failing health for a long time

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Goodwin Funeral Home with the Rev. Oral McDaniel of the Woodside Christian Church officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. The body will be brought from the Ayres residence to the funeral home today.
Mr. Lucas was born in Jackson Township Oct. 11. 1855 and was the son of Lewis and Elizabeth (Isgrigg) Lucas. On March 4, 1879 he was united in marriage with Ida Goldsberry.
Until 25 years ago Mr. Lucas was engaged in farming in Jackson Township in the neighborhood of his birthplace. He then retired and located in Frankfort where he has since resided. For the past several years in addition to being in failing health, his vision had been considerably impaired.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. I. Caldwell of Lafayette, Mrs. Anna Hodgen and Mrs. James Ayres, both of Frankfort. A son, Jesse Lucas, lives near Mechanicsburg.
His wife and one son preceded him in death.
Fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive him as do countless friends as the venerable citizen had spent his entire life in this community."
