OBITUARY:
HERNANDO, Fla. -- Dorothy C. (Smith) Branconnier, 72, of Hernando, formerly of Marlboro, Mass., a former business owner, died Sunday, Oct. 14, in Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, John J. Branconnier; a son, Robert J. Branconnier of Boiling Springs, S.C.; a daughter, Margaret M. Marshall of Grafton, Mass.; three sisters, Barbara MacConnell of Ocala, Joan Balkas of Johnson City, N.Y., and Phyllis Yanchewsky of Marlboro; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Marlboro, daughter of Malcolm and Margaret (Hogan) Smith, and moved to Florida 15 years ago. She graduated from Marlboro High School in 1946.
Mrs. Branconnier owned and operated Ye Barn Shoppe, Marlboro. She was an accomplished artist, focusing on oil painting, and was a member of Citrus Hills Golf Club, Women's Divine Nine Golf Association, and Citrus County Art League, and enjoyed dancing. She was a former member of Immaculate Conception Church, Marlboro.
The funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlboro. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Marlboro. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in Sullivan-Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlboro.
