Linda Talbert, 58, of Waco, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008. Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Linda was born in Waco, Texas, to the Rev. Booker T. Talbert, Sr. and Naomi Talbert, the third of five children. Linda became a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, pastored by the Rev. A. A. Kuykendall, at a young age. Along with her sisters and brother, they sang in the choir and she was also blessed with the ability to play the piano by ear, of any song your heart desired. She later became a fulltime member of Community Baptist Church where her father served as pastor for 25 years. During this time a group formed, the Talbert and Bryant Sisters. They performed at numerous churches and events throughout Central Texas. Linda was called on by other ministers to sing and play, for everyone loved her elegant voice. Those churches included Spring Street Baptist Church, Macedonia Baptist Church. Sunset Baptist Church, and countless others. Linda loved the Lord and loved doing His will and was not shy about sharing His love and wisdom for all to hear. She was true to her calling as she spoke on many occasions the Word of God.

Linda received her formal education at G. W. Carver High School and attended both McLennan Community College and Texas State Technical College in Waco. She was employed at Texas Farm Bureau for 21 years. She later worked for Fannie Mae of Dallas, the American Red Cross, Lacks, and was currently employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi Talbert; and her sister, Lula Mae Talbert-Black.

Survivors include her son, Derek Talbert and wife, Mae; grandchildren, De'Eric and Devin Talbert, LaTisha, Joseph and Ronnie; her father, the Rev. Booker T. Talbert, Sr.; brother, Booker T. Talbert, Jr. and wife, Marcia; sisters, Ida Jean Gaines, and Beverly Smith and husband, Gregory; a host of nieces and nephews; and cousins, aunts, uncles and long-time friends.
