Arthur Clark Dies

Arthur Clark, 74, of Freedom, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 25, 1983 at his home as the result of a heart attack, it was reported Tuesday morning.
Funeral services will be conducted under the direction of Bp. Fred Brog in the Freedom LDS Ward Chapel, Friday, Jan 28, at 1 p.m. The family will meet friends Thursday evening, Jan 27, at Star Valley Funeral Service in Grover betweren the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. Also friends may call at the Freedom LDS Church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Interment will be in the Freedom Cemetery.

Arthur Clark, 74, died Jan. 25, 1983 at his home in Freedom, Wyo. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan 28 at 1 p.m. at the Freedom Ward LDS Chapel with Bp. Fred Brog officiating. Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery.
Arthur was born Sept 12, 1908 to Daniel John and Mary Amanda Hokanson Clark at Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico.
In February 1910, he moved with his family to Freedom where he spent the rest of his life, except for a short time before he was married. He attended grade school in Freedom and high school in Thayne and Afton.
At age 14 he drove a team with his uncles and hauled cheese to Montpelier, Idaho and later to Soda Springs, Idaho, and brought freight back to Star Valley. He helped make the first Swiss cheese made in Star Valley and worked at the cheese factory in Freedom.
In the spring of 1928 he went to Blackfoot, Idaho to work for his uncle, Orlan Clark. There he met his future wife, Loretta McWherter, and baptized her a member of the LDS Church. They were married on Oct. 14, 1928 at the home of his Uncle Orlan in Blackfoot. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple May 27, 1931.
He worked at several different occupations during his lifetime. After he retired he spent many hours fishing and making items from cedar for which he will be remembered in the homes of his family and friends.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served in different positions. He held the office of high priest at the time of his death.
He loved music and sang in the ward choir and in several quartets for church functions and funerals.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta, of Freedom; son, Zane Clark, Clovis, Calif.; daughters, Mrs. Reed (Bonnie) Holbrook, Freedom; Mrs. Lloyd (Ileen) Harrison, Rigby, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and three great-grand-daughters.
He is also survived by brothers, Milson Clark, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Grant Clark, Freedom; sisters, Rhoda Humpherys, Orem, Utah; Mrs. Cyril (Lois) Roberts, Etna.
