MAJOR OLIVER TREAT BUNDY, JR., M.D.

Oliver Treat Bundy, Jr. was born on 03 Mar 1837 in Windsor, Broome Co, NY, the youngest of six children born to the union of Dr. Oliver Treat Bundy, Sr. and Lydia Smith.

Prior to the Civil War, Dr. Bundy moved from Windsor, Broome Co, NY to Deposit, Delaware Co, NY where he set up his medical practice.

27 Aug 1862 Civil War: Enlisted as a Private in Co A, 144th New York Volunteer Infantry at Tompkins, Delaware Co, NY

27 Sep 1862 promoted to Full Assistant Surgeon

In 1864 he was placed in charge of 3300 prisoners who were released from Andersonville Prison.

25 Jun 1865 mustered out at Hilton Head Island, Beaufort Co, SC

In 1870, Dr. Bundy was listed as an Allopathic Physician and married to Miss Frances M. Cannon, the daughter Millen Stowell Cannon and Clarissa Jeanette Rogers. She was a music teacher and they resided in Sanford, P.O. Gulf Summit, Broome Co, NY. Sometime between 1870 and 1875, Oliver and Fannie divorced.

He remarried to Miss Helen E. Dean, daughter of Artemas and Adeline Dean, who died on 04 May 1875.

His last wife was Miss Emily Clark Coffin, the daughter of William Isaiah Coffin and Henrietta Clark. They were wed on 07 Mar 1877 at Deposit, Broome Co, NY, by Rev N M Clute, Pastor Deposit Presbyterian Church, with her brother William Gates Coffin and Emma Demander as their witnesses.

He became coroner for Delaware County, a position he held for 24 years.

On 16 Sep 1880, Dr. Bundy was "Mustered In" as a Charter Member of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) - Lewis L. Eggleston Post #184, Deposit, Broome Co, NY - Membership No. 1

He died without heirs in Deposit, Delaware Co, NY, on 28 Aug 1908 aged 71 Years 5 Months 25 Days.
