President Lincoln is quoted in a remark about Josiah "He removed early in life to Harrison Co., in southern IN, the 2nd county east of that in which his brother Thomas afterwards settled and there died. According to Abraham Lincoln, writing 4-2-1848, "My recollection of what I have heard is that he has several daughters, and only one son, Thomas - their postoffice is Corydon, Harrison Co., IN." Writing later that year, he stated that "Uncle Josiah had three daughters, and an only son Thomas."
