Daughter of William Henry Starr and Mahala Bird. In 1856 she married John Wesley Knowles in Smith County, Texas. They had the following children (all but three preceeded her in death): Sarah Exa Knowles, Mary Zelda Knowles Dozier, Johnnie Francis Knowles Bradshaw, Eva Knowles, James Alva Knowles and Henry Emmett Knowles. Her son James erected monument in memory of his grandfather William Henry Starr on the family burial grounds.
