Jeane was born April 27, 1923, in Huron, Kan. She graduated from Huron High School and went on to graduate from Platt-Guard Business College. She then moved to Kansas City and began working for the Army Corps of Engineers.
During World War II she was an active member of the USO. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing classical music and waltzes. Jeane also enjoyed musicals and concerts and it was at a concert in Kansas City that she met the man she would later marry. On Dec. 16, 1949, Jeane and Carl Raymond Barraclough were married. The marriage produced two sons.
After her husband's death, Jeane retired from the Corps of Engineers after 30 years of service. She moved to Holton, Kan., where she joined the United Methodist Church and was the pianist for the Sunday School Crusaders and Faith Faust UMW Circle. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and received her 50-year pin from Chapter 461 in 1991. Jeane moved to Texas in June 2005 to be closer to her sons.
Jeane was strong in her faith and relationship to the Lord and loved to play hymns on the piano. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, wit and wisdom.
Jeane was preceded in death by her husband in 1976 and leaves behind many friends.
Survivors: Sons, Stan and wife, Mary Jane, of Ponca City, Okla., and John and wife, Beth, of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
