Jack Bly played many roles during his life; he was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, soldier and a friend.
He was the youngest son of Tony E. Bly and Mattie Belle (Watkins) Bly and was born Sept. 13, 1928, in Asotin. Jack attended school in Asotin and graduated in 1947.
Jack's six older brothers all served in World War II and all came safely home. Then Jack was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea. It was and still is a source of great pride that all seven brothers served their country during wartime.
After Jack returned from Korea, he met and married JoAnne (Kerr) Bly. She survives him at the family home in Clarkston. They were both looking forward to celebrating what would have been their 60th anniversary on May 11, 2013. Jack worked at various jobs, including 11 years at Gregson's Shoes in Lewiston. He found his calling, though, as an insurance salesman for Prudential Insurance. He was one of the top salesmen for many years, receiving many awards and accolades. He worked for Prudential until health reasons caused him to retire in 1981.
The great loves of Jack's life were his family, telling jokes, fishing and basketball. He was especially dedicated to his grandchildren and great-grandsons.
Jack is also survived by his five children, Richard Bly of Ocean Shores, Wash., Pamela (Edwin) Harris, Terry Bly, Gregory (Tuesday) Bly, all of Clarkston, and Roy (Phyllis) Bly of Lewiston; his three grandchildren, Allison (Tim) Parker, Lee Harris and Gabrielle Miller; and his three great-grandsons, Ryan and Dylan Parker and Leighton Skinner.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Tony, William, Mercil (Tad), Cecil, Opal Yeoman, Roy (Clayton), Sam and Macil Boyd.
Jack passed away March 28, 2013, from age-related causes at Life Care Center in Lewiston. The family would like to thank all of the "Moms" and the men who provided the care and the caring. The first can be bought and the second is priceless.
