Funeral Notice -- Tuesday, August 1,1905, Springfield Republican:

The funeral of David Avery, the Charlemont centenarian who died Friday evening in the house in which he was born and lived all his life with the exception of a few years spent near by in another house, was held yesterday afternoon. There was a service of prayer at the house and at 2.30 services were held in the Congregational church in East Charlemont, of which Dea Avery was a member for many years. There was a large attendance. Rev. Dr. Lyman Whiting, the family pastor, conducted the services, and had the assistance of other ministers. Dr Whiting in the course of his address dwelt on the circumstances of Mr Avery's long life and paid a tribute to his worth. The Schubert quartet of Shelburne Falls sang. The bearers were Mr Avery's three sons, James D., William B., and Ellsworth D. Avery, and son-in-law Lorenzo Bliss. The burial was in the cemetery at East Charlemont.
